You are welcome here.

All of you. The lonely parts, the sad parts, the tired parts, the shame-filled parts.

The true work of therapy requires us to travel to our depths, unearth our shadows, and bring them to the light.

It is no easy undertaking. And I’m not here for surface-level fixes.

I want to know all the parts of you, those you show proudly and those you keep hidden.

I want to see your wounds and your wisdom, and help you hold it all with compassion.

I want to hold your unfurling and unfolding and honour the courage you have for choosing the winding path back to yourself.

to alchemize our pain requires witness

your life won’t change unless you make change happen

It sounds cliché, but the reality is - it’s true. If you want to change your life in some way, feel a greater sense of aliveness, or walk a path that is more in line with your souls calling, you will have to make change. And much of that change will take place outside of the therapy room.

Your pain, your wounds, your old patterns, and shadow parts all deserve to - and in many cases, need to - be witnessed.

But without your commitment to creating change in your life, to trying something new, doing something differently… your life with remain the same.

As your therapist, it is my role to tenderly hold you through the process of unearthing what is keeping you struck, and be the trail angel lighting your way as you undertake the courageous work of transformation.

the values I bring to my work…

compassion:

I will approach you, your life, and your stories with deep love, reverence and tender care.

trust:

I believe you are the expert on your experience, and I trust your authority and autonomy.

honesty:

I will speak the truth that I see to you, even when it may be hard to hear.

courage:

I will be brave in how I show up in our work and invite you to do the same.

integrity:

I commit to doing the work in my own life that I am inviting you to undertake in yours.

joy:

I will weave in levity, playfulness, creativity and laughter wherever I can.

her:

I work primarily with women and teen girls.

My work is open to all who identify as women or femme, including queer, non-binary, two-spirit and trans folks.

Why “her wild hearth”?

wild:

I am here to help unearth and integrate the parts of you that may have been pushed to the sidelines.

Often - not always - these parts are a little bit more untamed. They may ask you to forge a new path, to walk on the wild side.

hearth:

I am also here to cultivate a deeply sacred well-held space for you to feel safe enough to hold what is hard up to the light.

You will travel into the wilderness, but I will always create a safe hearth for you to return to.

A little bit about me…

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I see clients in person on Salt Spring Island and online elsewhere.

I specialize in working with women and teen girls who want to unfold into the most fully expressed versions of themselves.

As someone who has gone through my own struggles with anxiety, depression, and a severance from self-trust, I know first hand how hard this work can be. And, I know the clarity and confidence that can come from facing what feels too dark to hold, doing the work of healing those wounds, and turning toward the light instead.

While I will always be evolving, I have spent my whole adult life in the dance of becoming. Becoming braver, kinder versions of myself, taking on new roles and identities, and stepping more and more into the life I have always longed for.

You can read more about my approach in the FAQ section below. Or click this button to learn more about my story.

Let’s go deep…

Here's how this works...

If you live on Salt Spring Island, I see clients in person through the Madrona Integrative Health Clinic.

In-person appointments at Madrona will be available starting in February 2025.

If you live elsewhere, we can work together online.

I offer free 20-minute consultation sessions before we dive in together to make sure I’m a good fit to support you.

…and honour what it is you long for.

The process:

We begin with a 75-minute intake session in which you’ll have the opportunity to be deeply heard and witnessed in whatever is bringing you to therapy at this time. We’ll also discuss your life and relationships more broadly so I can understand the greater context of your concerns. We’ll get clear on the intentions for our work together and identify the ways I can best support you moving forward.

From there, we will meet roughly every week or every two weeks for as long as you desire. When you are ready to wrap up our work together, we will meet for a final completion ritual call to acknowledge and celebrate all the progress you have made.

Want more support?

If we are working together online, you can opt to have access to me for ongoing support via text and voice message for witnessing, encouragement, problem solving, or idea generation as needed. Please note this option is not available for clients seeing me through Madrona.

I’m on your team, truly.

Your investment:

Initial 75-minute intake session: $175 CAD
60-minute sessions: $150 CAD

  • Working with Kelsey made a huge difference in my life. I gained a great deal of confidence and was able to recognise the ongoing abusive dynamics in my family and partnership. Kelsey helped me gain the sense of my own worth to be able to set boundaries and eventually leave. I really love how safe, warm, and welcoming Kelsey is. Working with her I felt like I had a fiercely loving advocate on my side.

    - past therapy client

  • Working with Kelsey over the past few years has helped me navigate a period of anxiety, burnout, and heartbreak with more self-compassion and grounding. I felt deeply supported during some of the toughest moments of my life and gained invaluable tools for managing anxiety and stress. I also developed a clearer understanding of my needs and desires, and how to incorporate self-compassion into my daily life—something that has made a huge difference in my happiness and resilience. I can’t thank Kelsey enough for her support, insight, and unwavering encouragement.

    - past therapy client

  • I really enjoyed working with Kelsey. She always listened fully and I felt really comfortable sharing my feelings and experiences with her. I struggle with anxiety and Kelsey really helped me learn and develop tools and strategies to recognize when my anxiety was starting to rise and how to manage it. My sessions with her also helped me feel understood and less alone. I often looked forward to my sessions with her as I would always feel better afterwards. Kelsey is a wonderful compassionate therapist and I would highly recommend her!

FAQ

  • I approach my work from a variety of perspectives. My approach and training includes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, interpersonal approaches, attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy and some somatic techniques. I will also incorporate psychoeducation to explain why things are happening and help improve your understanding of your own emotions and reactions.

As well, all of the work I do is founded in trauma-informed practice. This means, even if we aren’t directly dealing with trauma, I am focused on ensuring we are deeply sensitive to your emotional state. We will move at a pace that ensures you do not become emotionally overwhelmed throughout the process.

  • Both! If you want to work together in person on Salt Spring Island, I see clients through Madrona Health.

If you want to work with me online, please book through my website here. I can work with clients located anywhere in Canada except Quebec. I can also work with clients in most other countries, including the UK and Australia. Due to licensing issues, unfortunately I cannot offer counselling to clients in the United States.

  • What extended health benefit providers cover varies depending on your policy and what your employer has chosen to cover within that policy. Unfortunately, I cannot offer direct billing and if you are relying on insurance coverage you will need to submit receipts after our sessions.

I recommend that clients contact their insurance providers directly to find out if counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor is covered and to what extent.

Your benefits provider will most likely need to know the following information:

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My membership number is 17836.

  • First, take some time to read through my website and see if you resonate with my approach and values. This should give you a pretty good feel for how I work. If you’re still not sure, I’m happy to set up a free 20-minute consultation call for us to chat and see how it feels to work with one another.
